SInce we decided to stay...

And since we decided to stay, it was time to get back to working on the house. As if we didn't have enough going on, we now get to spend our weekends (when not dealing with work) finishing the many projects that need to get done. The stairs were on the agenda this weekend. We had removed the carpet months ago and were living with CDX. Too many splinters later, we decided it was time to get these done. We had to finish painting the wall first. Then, one by one (because our walls aren't square) we cut the risers and got them installed. Caulking the edges and nail holes and then painting... last night things were looking pretty good. We ran into a bit of trouble with the treds. Our saw wasn't big enough to cut them, but thanks to our friend and his connections, we had one that would work within the hour and we were off to work again. The stairs are made of the same brazilian koa as the floors we put in but they came unfinished. We need to get 8 or so layers of the diamond finish on them before we can install. 3 down, 5 to go before wedensday night. They need to sit for 3 days before you can walk on them and we need to install this weekend so there you go. Pics are of the stairs before the treds, during, after painting, a dry fit of one stair and those having been finished... whew!!! I'm exhausted thinking about it. This DYI stuff is getting very old. I will never buy another house that needs work unless all the work will be completed, by someone else, before we move in!!!!
